All the details about the Rally di Roma Capitale raced "behind close doors"

20.07.2020 – As announced last Wednesday, July 15th, during the introductory press conference, Rally di Roma Capitale will be behind closed doors. The opening meeting of the FIA European Rally Championship 2020 and Italian Rally Championship 2020 scheduled for next July 24-26th will not have any spectators.

The definition “behind closed doors” means that all the central areas of the rally will not allow any spectators. Service park, regrouping, race direction, starting and finishing ceremonies in Castel Sant’Angelo and Fuggi will only allow technical staff through as limitation will also include media operators.

Along the stages no specific spectators areas will be devised, on the contrary to what happened in the past. For this reason, an important media coverage will be announced early next week with all the live streaming feeds and TV connections that will involve Eurosport and ACI Sport social channels as well as the TV networks RAI Sport, Eurosport and MS Motor TV.

“To us the rally will be behind closed doors, meaning that no spectators will be allowed in the rally areas. Access to these will be regulated by triage areas to check the health of staff – Max Rendina commented. – We did not devise spectators areas along the stages and all the people along the stages and the residents are asked to wear face masks even outside, keep social distances and refrain to for groups. I want to stress once more that the media coverage will be quite comprehensive, therefore we will grant the coverage to follow the Rally di Roma Capitale from home. This is an unusual rally, but if we are united and responsible today, we will certainly go back to the normality soon also in the world of motorsport”.
